Spring man killed in motorcycle accident
An East Montgomery County motorcyclist was killed Friday night after he collided with a vehicle, Department of Public Safety officials said. Jeffery David Wilbrett, 46, of Spring, was traveling eastbound on FM 1314 at about 10:38 p.m. when a 1999 Saturn failed to yield the right-of-way and pulled out in front of his motorcycle, police said.
Longtime Chronicle reporter Hohlfeld dies at 56
Neil Hohlfeld, who covered the Astros and other sports with grace and distinction during a 29-year career with the Houston Chronicle, died Saturday morning of an apparent heart attack while vacationing with his family in New Mexico. He was 56.
